Overall, it was a great experience, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day and for a very reasonable price. However, keep in mind, the service is at a more leisurely pace...I believe you're meant to enjoy your company! If you're in a rush and just need a quick bite to eat, this may not be the place. The food was excellent, the pinot noir we ordered was very smooth and the cherry cheesecake was awesome. The portions were huge, but I had no problems. The paintings on the walls are gorgeous, and made for great conversation. The food was delicious. The only down side to our visit was that dinner took almost an hour to arrive. However, the waitstaff kept us informed, and we were offered a free glass of wine for our patience. On a Saturday night at 7:30pm the restaurant was extremely busy, with our server, also manager, bartendress, hostess, and a few other hats that i'm not aware of.
The restaurant should have better controls of seating times made available (dont be affraid to say, we have 745pm, 8pm, 815pm which do you prefer?, so guest don't have to wait until just before 8pm to get a glass of wine (had to flag a busboy down to request a couple of glasses of Prosecco), but after that all was great.
Food was great, from apps to desert, will definately go back again, just not at 730 on a Saturday Night...3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection!Once again it was perfection... from the food to the service everything was great. Fresh ingredients, full flavors, great wine and wonderful and knowledgeable staff. This was our 3rd time and not our last. A couple of our entrees weren't as enjoyable because the veal and chicken were overcooked & dry. But my venison ragu & sister's boar sausage with gnocchi were AWESOME!! All the servers worked well together & provided wonderful service!
We can't wait to return for another wonderful meal at Cafe Sistina!2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWhy I Love OpenTable...This was my first OpenTable reservation & we noticed it was SO much better than calling in your own reservation! Our table was set up for the exact amount of diners & the menus were waiting at our table. No other table had the same service! Everyone was very attentive. Our water/beverages were always filled & bread kept coming. We loved it!
We tried the Greca salad. Very yummy! I had the Spicy Tutto Mare on risotto. I always have to try any type of risotto offered. Nice & spicy & delicious. Sister had the Veal Barolo. Almost like a schnitzel. Very good sauce! Mom had the Eggplant Parmesan. Delicious!! We almost opted out of dessert but couldn't say no.
