CatchCatch is one of my favoriteCatch is one of my favorite restaurants in the Castro area. The food is amazing. Even if you're just going for fish and chips Catch is a great choice for dinner. Their outdoor patio has a great fire burning in the middle so it's a comfortable temperature even when it's cold outside. Their menu has a great selection of seafood and other options and they do amazing work with the vegetables that come on the side. I never hesitate to recommend Catch to my friends.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMrelaxing neighborhood dinner spotwonderful food and ambience for a mother's day dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceMy wife and son went to Catch for dinner last Saturday night while in San Fran and it was an absolutely awesome experience. Our waiter, Tyler, was truly one of the better waiters I've had the pleasure of having. He saw me offering a bite of soup to my wife and he magically showed up behind us with 2 more spoons to sample. Very perceptive. The food was outstanding, I had one of the best martini's ever and prawns on risotto that was wonderful. We'd definitely go back again. Well worth the visit.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you go later...Always enjoy eating at Catch. Spoiled by usually going early. Went later this time and know why I go early.
Same good food, fine service, but conversation quite limited by all those people in my restaurant!
If you want to chat, go earlier.
Thanks.
P25/10/2013 12:00:00 AMearly Sunday eveningCan't honestly speak to noise level because we were there for an early dinner before crowds arrived. But I can speak to the food & the service which were both excellent & the ambiance which was very pleasant. I had the halibut & my husband had the talapia & we both absolutely cleaned our plate. Our neighbors at the next table raved about the mussels so now you have 3 dishes on the menu that got a " thumbs up", a good sampling. We will definitely go back.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFun!!!Catch is always great. It's like a neighborhood gathering. The staff is awesome!! The atmosphere is welcoming. The food is to die for. Had a wonderful time as usual.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOver-priced and worse-than-mediocreBeautifully presented, generous portions of worse-than-mediocre food. The fried calamari appetizer was soggy (as if it had been fried hours earlier and zapped in a microwave)). The entrees were boring and not-very good, one-dimensional in flavor and over-salted. And everything was wildly over-priced (my cocktail was over 50% more expensive than identical cocktails in other neighborhood bars). Like far too much in the Castro, Catch is chic and without substance. The ambiance was lovely and the service excellent, but that's not enough: When I go out to eat, I appreciate decent food. There are far better restaurants in the neighborhood at a fraction of the price. I won't return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways have a nice time atAlways have a nice time at this restaurant. Good food, service and close neighborhood location.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother lively seafood mealAnother lively seafood meal Dining Out for Life. My healthy choices were the tuna tartare and halibut main, both recommended.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery year I come here forEvery year I come here for Dining Out For Life and every year it is an absolute delight.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Catch! We were a party of three and all liked our dishes. The artichokes and the mussels are amazing. Love the half off bottles of wine on Tuesdays.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good food, friendlyAlways good food, friendly service, and a full stomach. Not to mention excellent cocktails.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Catch beforeI have been to Catch before and always enjoyed it. It's the last truly elegant restaurant in the Castro and the only one with a New York look, which I appreciate. The food is excellent, the wine list fair, but a very good place to celebrate, even if its just surviving the work week.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe usually pick new restaurantsWe usually pick new restaurants based on their gluten-free/celiac safe ratings and reviews, but not this time. I was craving some nice fish and Catch's menu looked perfect and was a short(ish) walk away.
The staff was engaging and careful to double check if a dish had any non-obvious gluten. After oysters and the arugula salad, we had the halibut and the salmon - absolutely spectacular. I've been thinking about it ever since and can't wait to find an excuse to go back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure to go andAlways a pleasure to go and everyone is very friendly. Good service; we all needed to catch up.
Really enjoyed!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy partner took me to CatchMy partner took me to Catch on Friday night to celebrate my promotion. The service & the bar drinks were superb, as always! Regarding food, the Hama Hama River and Point Reyes raw half-shelled oysters were fresh and very tasty. I must say though that my partner's salmon entree was much preferred to my halibut entree (which in itself was fine, really). I don't often order salmon out because I make it so often at home. But this one was worth ordering. And the live piano music adds so much to the ambiance and overall experience. We'll be back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service and food was amazing. The service and food was amazing. Dined with my sister who is from out of town and she is recalling our meal as one of the highlights of her trip. Talapia was superb.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMCatch featured imaginativeCatch featured imaginative dishes and excellent food. The fireplace by the table was a nice touch. The only thing I would have liked to see is more wines available by the glass.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful Sunday lunchMy daughter and I started our delightful Sunday lunch with the freshest Hama Hama oysters and tuna tartare. Then we both had mussels served in a spicy Chorizo, harissa and coconut broth, and topped with french fries. The mussels were cooked perfectly and the spicy broth provided an interesting background. I would recommend ordering the fries as a side rather than on top of the mussels. The service (Robert) was very friendly and efficient, just as it should be. We'll certainly go back.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
