The oatmeal is pricey but worth it -- interesting cinnamon meringue wafer on top of nutty, well-cooked Irish oats. Warm, burnished wood country casual setting. Bellinis are clear -- essence of peach is used. Great cappuchino -- no bitterness at all unlike most NYC restaurants. I ordered the rib and lobster dumplings, the market chicken salad and the chocolate malt cake. My boyfriend ordered the lobster soup, salmon and the pie of the day (passion fruit). Though I am not a fan of dumplings, they were tasty. I preferred the lobster to the rib one but it was still a cute presentation. My boyfriend's lobster soup was a bit too salty and he thought that it was too generic and was a bit like canned lobster soup. When they brought the soup out, it was just the dumplings, then the waitress came by and poured the soup in.
The salad was delicious and definitely loaded. The salmon was overcooked but still delicious. You have to try the dates with peanut butter and bacon, its to die for. The pretzel crab cake, the lobster dumpling soup, the scallops and pork belly and the short ribs all we're out of this world. The complex but oh so yummy dessert of the day was the icing on the cake Good drinks, a great wine selection. The decor is beautiful with the picture of the purveyors for the restaurant on the wall. One little thing, outside of Zac our waiter who was great and helpful, the rest of the staff (overbearing manager)we're rushing us. Why? The restaurant was half empty all evening, no need to do that, I had to slow down my service to make sure I could enjoy it. Though on the high end of the cost spectrum, they often have special events and extended their "Restaurant Week" to about a month. Go upstairs and you will find a very nice bar. They have great happy hour specials that include a variety of unique drinks, classic cocktails and wine and little eats. For the appetizer, we had pretzel crab cake and garden salad. As lots of reviews say, the pretzel crab cake was very delicious! It was pretty big as an appetizer so we had to share. We had the dorade and quiche for our entres and they were also very good. The dorade was especially soft and juicy and the vegetables that came with the fish mingled very well with it. The quiche was actually a little salty due to the dried fish, which I forgot the name of. but the crust and the rest of the egg and vegetables were really yummy. As a dessert, we both had the dark chocolate cake with caramel ice cream which was to die for!
