First surprise was how well they dealt with our toddler. They opened the door, helped us stow the baby carriage and brought a high chair without any drama (which is a plus for a nicer restaurant).
My first impression was that this was similar to Ruth Chris' steakhouse. Similar menu, similar idea of cooking steaks at 1600 degrees, etc. Everything ala carte.
Service was great. Attentive, but not annoying. Maitre'd/manager checked on us. As for the food- GREAT pork belly app., tasty (but large salad). Steaks were exceptional! Creme brulee desert was wonderful, with complimentary whipped cream a plus. We were seated on time at quiet table, per our request. noting occasion of my birthday. Service was professional and attentive -- although our water glasses were not refilled. Our server was helpful, but I would have preferred he not point so closely to the butters (pointing at food is one of my pet peeves). I can find the butter - name the varieties, if you like. (small point).
Problem was with my Premium Ribeye. (Husbands pork was perfect). I ordered it true MEDIUM. It was served MEDIUM RARE. I requested a few "seconds" more flame. It was served MEDIUM WELL. Too bad. Flavor was delicious! We did not have time for dessert. They gave us a box of truffles on departure. They have found numerous ways of ensuring that the customers feel welcomed and comfortable in the lush surroundings while enjoying magnificent foods - all done just the way you want them. There is flexibility with the menu and they have added all the small touches that to make the evening a unique, memorable and very, very pleasant one. Even the electronic tablet wine list was fun and informative. Our server, Matt, was very knowledgeable with the menu and wine list, and was very helpful explaining many of my inquires. The food was made to perfection and to our taste. Great Service.I go to Fleming a few times a year in West Hartford and it's always a great night out. The restaurant is usually very busy, it's very nice inside, and the food is always good although I in my opinion a little expensive compared to other close by competition. This last trip I went on a Tuesday night with my wife and it was a quieter than usual night. We had a waitress named Stephanie and we cannot say enough about how excellent she was. She made our dinner so enjoyable from the conversation to her recommendations. Seated immediately by helpful wait staff and provided with interactive wine list immediately. Service was very good, left enough time between checking on us so as not to be a bother but never too long where we were looking for them. Incredible food, a la carte portions so be careful to order a side or a salad to start off before digging in to your steak. Small plates sliced filet was delicious! Molten lava cake was exceptional as well. The appetizer BBQ shrimp was a HUGE disappointment. $15 gets you four small, extremely overcooked and dry shrimp.
