GlobeGreat experience before the playThe Globe is a small restaurant tucked away next to the Old Ship Saloon just off Battery Street. The exterior is a little bland, but walk inside and it's got a nice rustic feel, brick walls and a stack of wood for the wood-burning grill. I was there recently with Effie and some friends, and we all loved the atmosphere and the food. I had the rotisserie pork chop, which was moist and delicious. The accompanying potatoes and vegetables were superb. I was less fond of the tomato and corn soup, which I found rather bland. Their salad lardon is much better. Joel loved the king salmon and asparagus. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, good food and upscale dining without being off-putting. My new favorite restaurant.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall, simple, perfect. The warm loft-like space - brick walls, high beamed ceiling - is inviting and lively with a middle aged crowd. Service is casual but attentive. Food is served from an open kitchen in the rear that glows from the wood fired rotisserie and grille. Dishes are Italian inspired - fresh and creative. We started with a perfectly balanced lardon salad, mixed greens with roasted beats and just the right crumbling of cheese. We followed with golden roasted chicken (a bit over salted) and grilled salmon tossed with a grassy kale salsa over fresh pasta.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Time - Bring Your EarplugsGood food and the service was way above average. We had to sit next to a group that had a "spokesperson" that obviously had never read about decibel levels in normal conversation. All in all, a great experience!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Globe before aWe went to Globe before a nearby concert. The waiter was very accommodating in getting us out on time, and the food was delicious.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh Creative California CuisineWe love Globe Restaurant - the food always tastes freshly harvested and natural! Service is excellent and they have a great bartender.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat staffThe staff were very flexible in rearranging our table to accept a larger group than we had reserved for. Fortunately it was a slow Sunday night at the restaurant. The menu was a bit limited due to renovation going on, but enough choice for most. The veal was wonderful.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMNot Pretentious, Just Tasty FoodA neighborhood-type spot with excellent, moderately-priced food. My entree and dessert were both notably delicious. The beer list is merely adequate, but that seems par for the course in SF. I have already recommended this place to others, and I'll make a point of going back next time I'm in the city.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
