The restaurant is a little loud so it's probably not the best place for a first date but it would be great for a group. The portions are pretty decently sized. We shared 2 appetizers and 2 main plates between 3 of us and it was the perfect amount of food. EXCELLENT service (one member of our party has very explicit dietary restrictions and the server went above and beyond to accomodate us). Great food for the price ($15 gets you a coffee, a cocktail, a fruit plate and an entree).
They do not skimp on portions - I couldn't even finish my omelette because there was so much food!
I recommend getting a bowl of tortilla chips w/salsa and guacamole for the table. The guacamole is really delicious and the chips come with four different salsas ranging from sweet to savory in varying spice levels.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Mexican in the City!I found this place while walking around in the East Village one evening. It was packed with people - usually a good sign. The margaritas are fantastic. We saw several different drinks made while we waited at the bar and they all looked fantastic, ex. jalapeno margarita (with real muddled jalapeno!). Food recommendations: queso fundido with peppers and corn quesadilla. Tacos are great too, but avoid steak taco (a little dry). The service was friendly and prompt, the atmosphere is what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. The only downsides were that the bar is integrated with the dining tables, so if all the stools are taken, it's a bit awkward when you're waiting for your table, and it was quite noisy.
