Nola on the SquareMothers DayIt was a great atmosphere for mothers day! I highly recommend Nola on the Square to anyone!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayTook my mother, aunt, and two children to Nola on the Square for mother's day brunch. The food was good, the service was outstanding, and the bloody mary I had was to die for. I would recommend Nola on the Square it was excellent!!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMService was good, food andService was good, food and drinks were plentyful. Nice festive atmosphere.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA Pittsburgh GemThe food was delicious! Happy Hour specials was $1, I mean gumbo and red beans and rice. The Jambalaya was extraordinary with scallops, shrimp and Andouille sausage. Just spectacular! Oh and I forgot to mention the flatbreads were the size pizzas.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthenticGreat Cajun food. Having lived in Louisiana for several years, I like good Cajun food. I was impressed at both NOLA's Gumbo and Jambalaya as to how close to "true Cajun" they were.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoy eating here.Always enjoy eating here. Our server was fantastic as was the food. It was a very enjoyable experience.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious andThe food was delicious and the meal was reasonably priced. Sit in the front by the bar if you want to hear some awesome music, but ask for the room in the back if you're trying to have a conversation.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place - but food okNola is a great place to sit outside, see the action and certainly was lively for a Monday night. The food is good, but certainly not
stand out. And if you really love N'Awlins /cajun/creole...well then you will be left wanting. Service was great and I would go back with lowered expectations.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe started off with alligatorWe started off with alligator appetizer followed by the pork tenderloin for my friend and jambalaya for me. Both were exquisite. Paired with the unique cocktails we enjoyed one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGive Alligator a Chance1st visit to NOLA; had never eaten Creole food but went based on a friend's positive review. Very busy; we had to wait 5 minutes just to get to the hostess station, then 10 more min past our reservation time to be seated. Front end of restaurant very loud, but back room where we dined was lovely: nice lighting, decor, & comfortable table spacing. Very good service, server was a little stiff but friendly & helpful w/recommending or explaining menu items. Fried alligator app was incredible, you MUST have this. Quail entree has amazing flavor but needs presentation help: looks like black mud & has too many little bones in it. Chocolate dessert is another must-have. I'd go back for the alligator, chocolate, & live music.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to NOLA severalWe have been to NOLA several times. The service is consistently good. However after being in business for a few years, they really need to update their menu selections. The list of entrees is small to begin with and they only offered one daily special.
Our meals were good and quite filling, but I think we will pass on dining there for a while.Just nothing to pique our interest anymore. However we do enjoy the good selection of Abita beers and a specialty drink every now and then, they can be quite costly here!
Also if you are looking to have a nice dinner conversation...this is NOT the place. The bar is loud and the noise carries over into the dining room.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing dining and fum atmosphereEverything about Nola was amazing including the service and live music! Seafood lovers will love many of their dishes and the pork tenderloin was our of this world! The fried green tomatoes and beignets are a must to complwte the southern dining experience!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, flavorful food,Wonderful, flavorful food, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient staff. Go try a bit of the Big Easy in the Three Rivers.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur sever Wendy helped toOur sever Wendy helped to enhance our dining experience. Highly recommended!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh!!! The food was so good and the services was excellent!! Can't wait to eat there again!!!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWife and I decided to eatWife and I decided to eat off the appetizer menu rather than order a dinner. We tried the crab etoufee, red beans and rice, barbequed shrimp and the shellfish/artichoke flat bread. All were wonderful. We rated them best to least best in this order; shrimp, crab etoufee, flat bread and then beans and rice. We ordered bignets and chickoree coffee but found no chickoree flavor at all. The manager said they use a blend of regular with chickoree but it tasted 99.9% regular and 0.1%, if that, chickoree. We were actually looking forward to the N.Orleans coffee which is why my strong comments on this item. This was my second time there and plan to return, especially for one of the music nights.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved our food and our waitressLoved our food and our waitress was fantastic. She helped with menu choices and was just pleasant to have as our waitress. Loved ever minute of our dinner.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, good service.Excellent food, good service. But it is a very noisy restaurant. They added the noise of a band on a Friday night so it was almost impossible to hear conversation.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you love spicy food andIf you love spicy food and different cuisine then nolas is the place. My mother and I had a good meal. Unique menu so keep that in mind.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great - from MatreService was great - from Matre D, Waitress/Serviers and Manager! Enjoyable evening out. Will return and invite others!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular pork tenderloinThere are so many dishes on the menu I would like to try that I regret that we live on the other side of the state. Our server took the time to make really helpful recommendations and actually gave us a basis for selecting menu items. The pork tenderloin is spectacular. One of the best entrees I have had anywhere in a long time. If you can make kale taste this good, you deserve an award. Everything from the beer -- and the offer of beer samples -- to the bread and time that she took to explain everything and not rush us made for a delightful meal. If we lived in Pittsburgh ...4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to its name withLives up to its name with great selection of interesting food. Unusual dishes not seen everywhere else. Service was outstanding, crisp and server very informed about the food.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time toThis was our first time to NOLA. The Brunch menu had great choices and the prices were good. The foos was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and courteous. Will definately go back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed out non-tradtionalWe enjoyed out non-tradtional Easter dinner at Nola's on the Square. Great service and very good food. Expected it to be a bit spicier, asked for it to be spicy....but I also think restaurants err on the conservative side with spiciness. Otherwise it was very good. Great atmosphere and a fun place. We'll be back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLweIt was our first time there we will go back. The service was excellent - helpful and prompt but not hanging over you. The food was very tasteful and had a wonderful presentation. Great place to go to before the theatre. Ladies wear some walking shoes or at least shoes that are comfortable. Little too noisy for intimate conversation. Very enjoyable experience.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at NOLA is superb,The food at NOLA is superb, an adjective I do not use lightly. Every dish we have tried has exceeded our expectations. And one must save room for dessert! The service has been mixed. Sometimes it is great, and sometimes the waiters are not attentive enough. The music and ambience make this a very special place.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an absolutely wonderfulHad an absolutely wonderful time at Nola. It was mine and my boyfriend's first time there and the service was outstanding. Our waiter Alan had every answer to all of our questions and provided exceptional service. Will definitely return!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time IThis is the second time I have dined at Nola's, but upon my first visit I vowed to

I thoroughly enjoyed the Jambalaya3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good, a little priceyFood was good, a little pricey ($30 for catfish)but good. Great atmosphere, crowded but not too crowded and excellent service.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was quite good, veryThe food was quite good, very flavorful and quite authentic New Orleans cuisine. I went on a Tuesday night and things were very quiet which I enjoyed, but I know that other days of the week are also much more lively if your looking for that too.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were there for their firstWe were there for their first Sunday Brunch of the season. It wasn't a buffet but the menu of choices was pretty extensive and included a selection of drinks, starters and entrees. The food was very good and the housemade spicy chocolate ice cream was wonderful.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was terrific, can't waitFood was terrific, can't wait to go back. If you like spice and a variety of flavors and dishes, I highly recommend Nola. Also their partner restaurant Seviche on Penn Avenue.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Neighborhood RestoAs one who has gone to NOLA (the city) often and who cooks a lot of cajun/creole, I have a little problem with Nola's authenticity. It's a bit of a wannabe. LIght on some of the traditional fare (only etouffee was blue crab--as an app). That being said, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening (Saturday, after the St. Patrick's Day Parade). Glad we had our reservations through Open Table! The place was packed, but we enjoyed our table way in the back by the kitchen. We got to watch the fun.
Shane, our server, was very helpful, and the entire serving team--from food runners to expediter--did a great job in keeping things moving. The cooking team of three work in harmony to get the food out quickly.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMservice and food were greatservice and food were great but i was very disappointed that they did not have bread pudding3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great time at Nola's.Always a great time at Nola's.
