Ray's CafeMother's Day BuffetThe buffet is the best one I have attended for many reasons. The variety of food was amazing. The freshness due to the smaller containers at the buffet table was incredible. The mini desserts was perfect, it allowed you to try mutliple desserts without wasting any food. The choice of breakfast, lunch and seafood all in one setting was wondeful! I really liked the Ahi and oysters on the half shell.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Dinner Was GoodRay's Cafe was a great choice for Mother's Day dinner. We arrived at about 5:15pm for a 5:45 reservation and were seated immediately. Being Mother's Day the restaurant was more energetic and louder than usual. Service was good, the waitress took our orders soon and drinks came fast. I started with a cup of clam chowder, it arrived warm but not hot. The bread which is usually served hot was served cold. My wife and I both enjoyed our entrees; mine was grilled salmon, potatoes, and asparagus, very good. My wife's seared tuna was perfect for her. We shared an order of ice cream for dessert. By the time we left the restaurant was full and service was slower. Ray's was, and is, a great choice for lunch or dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day BrunchI love the Mother's Day Brunch here. I think it's just about perfect.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day BrunchWe've been coming to Ray's for about 12 years for Mother's Day Brunch, absolutely the best brunch in Seattle in my opinion. Food is always very delicious, seafood is fresh and never disappoints.
The only comment I would have this time is our table location. We were awkwardly seated very near the buffet and the door to the patio so every time someone came in or out we got a gust of cold air and felt a bit like people in line for food were hovering over us.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Pre-Mother's DayRecommend reservations, We had them and were ushered almost immediately to our table. The food was excellent, the service great. I was a bit concerned about getting served quickly as we had a concert to attend. No worries folks, we even had time for a second glass of wine!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Ray's has delicious food and a fantastic location. Parking is easy and every table has a view of the water. Great place to dine!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, service, too loudThe food and service was excellent as always, however the noise level was such that it was difficult for us to carry on a conversation. An investment in sound deadening equipment is needed.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMHad lunch outside on the deckHad lunch outside on the deck on a sunny day, but the weather was a bit cool so the wait staff provided us with blankets. The view was spectacular and the food great. A good place for locals and wonderful for out-of-town guests.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMspectacular viewwas scored a last minute reservation on a saturday night and caught the sunset. amazing. service and food were also outstanding. a bit pricey considering this was the cafe side. but it was a special occasion so we ordered a lot.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPopular Waterfront CafeRay's Café combines an outstanding water front view with excellent cuisine and outstanding service, a treat for the whole family, best friends, and special guests. I highly recommend Ray's for a casual break in the week's routine or for celebrating a special milestone in family or business affairs. Due to its popularity reservations are a wise course, as is valet parking.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCasual dining with a million$ viewExcellent appetizers and dessert. Main entrees were good, but not great. The view was spectacular.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLove RaysRays is one of the great Seattle icons and the best dining or cocktail experience you could hope to find. Because I booked on Open Table Happy hour Friday night was terrific. Most people hoping to drop in we're turned away with a long wait. Love Open Table.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe regularly take our outWe regularly take our out of town guests to Rays Cafe.
The view and wonderful seafood are such a wonderful way to showcase the Pugent Sound area and our NW neighborhood.
The service is consistently friendly and the menu never disappoints.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafood and the view! The location can't be beat. The seafood is fabulous. The service was a little slow from the bar.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was gorgeous day and theIt was gorgeous day and the perfect Seattle spot to enjoy it.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is outstanding. A fun evening and can't wait for the next one.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBrewmaster's dinners haveBrewmaster's dinners have always been good here, and our last one in April 2013 was not exception. Great execution by the staff, well chosen and well paired.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBrewmasters' DinnerMy husband and I attended the Brewmasters' dinner. We enjoyed each beer served and the conversation with the brewers plus the chef came over and described how he matched the food to the beers. Lovely experience. Excellent food. Wonderful beer. Plus there was a sunset that was rather breath-taking.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMHave always enjoyed diningHave always enjoyed dining at Ray's Cafe. Food has always been good. This partcular time we might have made an innopportune selection.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI wanted a nice place forI wanted a nice place for my birthday dinner and decided to go for a late lunch at Ray's Cafe instead. The food was great and the service was outstanding. What I liked most was that everyone there seemed very happy to be there! Friends getting together for a birthday or just to catch-up on each others lives. Even on a drizzly day, the view was lovely.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDisappointingOur out-of-town guests enjoyed the food but the view, the main reason for choosing Ray's over other excellent seafood restaurants in Seattle, was horrid. We were stuck way in the back where our view was of walls next door, not of Puget Sound. Very disappointing! In the future, I'll make sure we will be seated at a decent table or we will go to one of the other wonderful seafood places in town.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's is a very special placeRay's is a very special place to eat/drink. I try to get there 1 time a month.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time usingThis was my first time using open table for a reservation at Rays. I worked fine. I was disappointed because I wrote in the comments section that it was a birthday celebration for my boyfriend, Jack. Dessert was part of the dinner special. No mention of the birthday from the staff. I didn't think I'd have to tell the staff do to the comments section information. It was a bit disappointing for me, the one making the reservation and treating for dinner. Guess I should have backed up my comment with a verbal reminder to the wait staff.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had several fish dishesWe had several fish dishes (salmon, sablefish, crab cakes, seafood salad, and fish & chips), and everything was wonderful! And we are quite particular about our fish! Would definitely recommend!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's Cafe is my favoriteRay's Cafe is my favorite restaurant. You can count on having a delicious meal and a good experience every time you go there.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm sure all the special featuresI'm sure all the special features above apply. My daughter and I arrived on a stormy night and with reservations went right to our table by the window. Food, service, seating -- everything was excellent. We were there for the first time, celebrating a special event, and we'll both surely go back and bring friends!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCrab cake lacks NW flavorI had the small plate Dungeness Crab & Rock Shrimp Cake. It was ok. A bit disappointing on the lack of crab flavor. The filler over took the texture and the crab cake felt very mushy in my mouth. The other items on the plate were very flavorful and were wonderful. But the crab cake not so... I expect more from Ray's, even at the Cafe.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the SeattleThis was one of the Seattle Restaurant places. The food was delicious! We had a lovely corner table overlooking the Sound. And the service was paced so as not to seem rushed but not to leave you waiting. It was a beautiful evening.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great lunch! An excellent lunch with a view! The rockfish was deliciously prepared and crab and corn chowder was a great warm-up on a cold, rainy day.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful view, even duringWonderful view, even during inclement weather, whether you are dining in the Cafe or Boathouse (Formal Dining Room). The service was impeccable from the time of my arrival. There is complimentary Valet Parking, the Hostesses/Maitre D's were cheerful, and the Servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Every phase of the meal was prompt. The dish I had, which was highly recommended by my server, was the Chatham Strait Sablefish. WOW! It had a buttery texture and literally melted in my mouth. DELICIOUS! I was there for a personal celebration and was not disappointed. Thank you, Ray's.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was wonderful,The restaurant was wonderful, as always. The parking lot....not so much. The spaces are very small
and when a car is slightly over a line, the next space is unusable. Add to that the work being done,
and it took me ten minutes to park.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOn Easter Sunday, Ray's CafeOn Easter Sunday, Ray's Cafe has a seafood brunch. It features shrimp, freshly shucked oysters, crablegs, ham, prime rib, and a number of salads, salami and cheese, and hot breakfast food. The quality of the food was very good for a buffet. The view and location are terrific. We have made it an Easter tradition.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AM70 and sunny on the deck!Four of us enjoyed the first 70 degree day of the year on the Deck! Fabulous Sun set, great food, & wonderful time with friends! O- So Relaxing!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous, LOUD, jam-packedWe went to Ray's on one of the days in Seattle where the weather was unbeatable. Hence there were A LOT of people, and it was quite loud. We were with my 91 year old grandmother, & were treated to a corner-window table at the back of the cafe', where we could have an amazing view of the water. The staff were super friendly. But it was so busy that we waited a little long for our food. No matter - the view was stunning. I had the risotto (being the only vegetarian dish), and it was very good, though a bit greasy. My husband had the fish & chips, which were tasty, and my grandma had salmon. It was undercooked -- "medium rare" apparently means sushi-grade, or it did that night. Almost too loud to have a conversation, but overall awesome evenin3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! We've beenLove this place! We've been patrons for over 30 years.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's has always been oneRay's has always been one of my favorite establishments to frequent and I go often. The food and service are consistently excellent! Their lemon drop martini is the best in Seattle! My only disappointment is that they have now removed half of their seating area for dining on the deck! Maybe they are remodeling and plan to replace the tables ... I sure hope so!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a birthday luncheonWe had a birthday luncheon for a party of 8. It was perfect. The food was very good, but our waiter really made the day for us.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll be back!We loved so many aspects of our experience at Ray's . They paid for our taxi (one way), the staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was quite good. We were extremely please with the Jappy Hour menu. The selection and prices were beyond compare.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's very interesting thatIt's very interesting that in the Noise evaluation there is no descriptor for TOO LOUD!!! Is that what is meant by energetic???? I cannot recommend a restaurant where the noise level ruins the entire experience despite the high caliber of the setting, food, and service.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMade a reservation didn'tMade a reservation didn't have to wait to be seated, Friendly staff, Great food. Highly recomend it to anyone looking for a nice night out3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy daughter and I went toMy daughter and I went to Ray's when visiting Seattle, after it was recommended by a friend. They view was awesome, service was great and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend visiting if you haven't before. Downstairs is a more upscale dining experience, if you're celebrating a special occasion, or looking for a romantic evening.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMUsed to live at ShilsholeUsed to live at Shilshole and hadn't been back in a while - met up with good friends and we've decided to make this a monthly affair.
