The City Square SteakhouseCity Steak is our favoriteCity Steak is our favorite in Wooster. An amazing find we stubbled across a few years ago while visiting The College of Wooster. It has been our go to every drop off, pick up and visit. We have never been disappointed. This time however they were a tad off. The food was as good as usual but the meal timing was terrible. We were barely into our salads when the entree came. The meals are expensive and you want to savor the experience. To me timing is key. There was no apology nor offer to take the entree back to the kitchen. Instead everything was crammed onto the table and we had to make it work. I suspect that everyone was worn out We showed up to Graduation day and the weekend was gangbusters Still my favorite.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMJust right! This place is fantastic! The servers know exactly what they are doing, we had multiple people waiting on us. I've never seen such team work in a restaurant . The food was just what we wanted! For a higher end steakhouse it is priced just right! You get a side and salad with all meals. Most high end steakhouses are ala carte. We will return! Worth the drive!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant!!Great atmosphere and outstanding patio with great selection of appetizers and entrees with good selection of wines and deserts...
Great selection of background jazz from XM radio too!!
Our waitress was also outstanding!!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe old restored buildingThe old restored building is great. I love the old architecture. Service was very good. We came for our anniversary and both got steak, filet mignon and ribeye. They were tender and cooked the way we liked them but needed more flavorings. Also, the food was warm, not hot.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood time in WoosterNice to have such a gem of a restaurant in Wooster. The walleye special was very good, cooked properly, and a decent sized portion. Salad was wonderful, nice mix of greens and not too much dressing. Was energetic on a Friday night, but service kept our drinks full and were interactive. Really enjoyed.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband & I had been hereMy husband & I had been here before and decided to bring my brother & sister-in-law... as soon as they walked in OMG this is just like something in New York! They loved it! We want to come back when we can set out on the patio. This place is so cozy and food is outstanding!!!!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMService was very good. NoService was very good. No problems, except ordered my steak medium well and it came out medium rare and was not going to complain because did not want my steak sent back. Other than that was a great place. Next time I go will hang out in the bar area. Was very nice.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall the evening was great.Overall the evening was great. The service is beyond exceptional, and friendly. A couple of people at the table were less than thrilled with their steaks, but were very happy with everything else, and said they would return. The restaruant is very fun, and has a great atmosphere, we were with several out of towners, and they were very impressed.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCity Square Was A Great FindCity Square Was A Great Find For A Special OccasioN Or Just A Night Out. IT Has A Great Menu That PleasEd Both My Husband, The Steak Eater, As Well As AN eXcellent Selection Of Pasta And seafood For Myself. The Service Was Great With Our Waitress Making Sure We Were Very Well Taken Care Of. The Courses Arrived At Our Table Very Quickly Even Though It Was A Very Nusy Night With No Empty Tables. We Will DefinitelY Be Back!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful expereinceWe recently ate at City Square for our ten year anniversary and it was wonderful. The food was awesome and great service. We had the gourmet fries and they were wonderful. Food was timed perfectly I did not feel rushed. Defiantly will be our new spot for dining.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe interior decor is excellentThe interior decor is excellent and creates a similarly excellent ambience . Exterior view is OK , appropriate for a progressive downtown with character; definitely inviting. The food rates 5 stars as it consistently does , That goes for equally as well for the establishment's team .4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCity Square Steakhouse isCity Square Steakhouse is definitely one of our favorite places to eat. The food is always wonderful and the atmosphere is like being in a high-end restaurant in a metropolitan city, right here in beautiful Wooster. While the main menu is impressive, don't shy away from the bar menu--the burgers are fantastic and the french fries are the best I've ever eaten. The staff is attentive and friendly. This is a great place to relax and enjoy!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience!City Square is a gem in the downtown Wooster dining scene. Wooster is very lucky to have several great establishments and City Square is at the top of the list. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The bar is excellant. They have a great bourbon list and the bartenders are highly skilled and give quality pours. The seafood bisque is a must have. The steaks are good and they offer several non-steak alternatives. The only downside is that the prices are a little high for the area, although they are comparable to any high-end steakhouse in Cleveland or Columbus. A trick to help with your wallet is to ask for a bar menu even if you are sitting in the dining room. It contains burgers, sandwiches and a few entrees not on the regular menu.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great meal, all fourWe had a great meal, all four of our party loved what they got, fish pasta and beef all excellent.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe arrived just prior to ourWe arrived just prior to our reservation and were seated. Our server knew the menu and as we talked she made several suggestions including the specials for the evening. We shared a meal and the staff was awesome in spliting it in the kitchen. Unexpected but much appreciated. The steak arrived as ordered and was excellent. The creme brulee was super. When we left the place was packed and exciting. We'll be back soon.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost Fit For FoodiesTook my parents to dinner 3/22/13. A very nice, brick walled restaurant/neighborhood gem with a fireplace;n. Nice ambiance, small bar area. Because it was Friday, it was very busy. The wait staff was very well trained, well informed, and attentive! We were immediately seated (had reservations) and all courses were served on a timely basis. The Seafood Bisque included ample chunks of seafood and was very nice, Salmon was very good, Talipia however was fishy tasting, and the bone-in Strip Steak ($38.95) was priced like Prime but was clearly NOT PRIME; it was a lower grade of Choice or a Select cut of meat. $38.95 for a bone-in Strip Steak in Wooster Ohio NEEDS TO BE PRIME!
Recipes are very good but quality of meat & fish need attention!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat as always. decent winegreat as always. decent wine list for a smaller town but surprised they don't have more Malbecs for being a steakhouse3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant. ExcellentGreat restaurant. Excellent service staff, very professional. Wonderful food and mixed drinks.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to City SquareWe've been to City Square a number of times and have always had a good experience. The food is fantastic, the service is great. Our only complaint this time was that it was incredibly loud at times. The blame for that falls on the eight-top next to us who had obviously had too much to drink before dinner. We were thinking about trying to get a different table, but unless we went out on the patio I think we would have heard the cackling and squealing laughs anywhere. Thankfully they calmed down a bit when they got their salads, but we could still follow every bit of that conversation. That's one con about the restaurant; it's not big and a group like can really affect everyone's experience. The food was worth it, though.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't enjoy a dinner whenI can't enjoy a dinner when I am sitting so close to the next table that I'm bumping elbows12/28/2012 12:00:00 AM
