Turns out that we were his only table (???). I felt bad for him, he could have turned the table more quickly with a little help from his kitchen. But the kitchen did him no favors. Never got our oysters as an app, the food came after a long wait. Bar service was great, food prices were very fair, portions were huge. We love Urban Grub (despite the unappetizing name) and will return. And we didn't mind the wait because the drinks & muffins/biscuits & conversation were all good, but it wasn't a very well-managed place that day. Even he fire alarm didn't ruin out brunch! If you're lucky, you'll get Leah as your server. She was the best guide I've had in years. The menu is fit for South Beach or NYC. Come hungry and with a few people, so you can try everything. We were there for brunch. The butternut squash omlet was divine. Start with a charteurie platter. Make sure you get some grits. Save room for desert. My daughter and I were so frustrated from a long day and a very delayed arrival for our reservation due to the taxi company. Garth sensed our frustration and treated us like royalty. Our table wasn't available due to our tardiness but he found us a spot at the oyster bar while we waited. He brought us drinks and a wonderful appetizer and put us in the very capable hand sof Ashley. After about 5 minutes we decided to give up our table and stay put! The man behind the counter was chatting with us while he shucked oysters, Ashley was making great recommendations and Garth came by numerous times to make sure we were still doing well. Requested outdoor table near fireplace if weather was suitable. Chilly evening, seated right by the fireplace was marvelous for guest just in from Boston area, with snow on the ground there. Attentive, knowledgable server, beautiful, delicious, unusual food makes me want to return on next trip to Nashville. Valet parking is excellent, and everyone calls you by name, even though they don't know you. That ensures having the correct person, as well as creating a friendly efficient atmosphere. The hostess seated us at a half booth and there was not enough room for 5 of us. We asked her to move us, but she said she didn't have anything else. Our waiter came and told us that he was going to put the tables together for us. The food was delicious. Three at our table had the fillet which they said was the best ever.
